Political leadership is a broad multidimensional phenomenon that has been analyzed through various lenses; yet there is no one concrete definition. In the following response, I will present a brief overview of my interpretation through which I have come to understand political leadership and its importance. Then, I will examine the relevance of the typologies and authors we have considered in relation to political leadership. When thinking about leadership, it is important to ask ourselves, can one measure†¦show more content†¦Although Sandberg’s framework can be useful in the business world, I find that studying political leadership strictly from a gender-based approach could be insufficient. Regardless of his/her gender, a leader is an individual that possesses the necessary characteristics that will make or break his/her leadership. In her book, The Power of Latino leadership, Juana Bordas offers culture-based analysis of leadership. Although her book focuses on Latino culture, I find some of the leadership principles that she offers, relevant in trying to define political leadership. For example, Personalismo (The Character of the Leader) is a leadership principle that explores leaders’ abilities to connect with people and embody traits that will exemplify trust and respect in relation to their followers (Bordas 2013, 8).
